The 33-megapixel partially stacked Exmor RC CMOS sensor works closely with the BIONZ XR2 processor to deliver sharp, true-to-life images in every situation. With 16 stops of dynamic range, you retain detail in both the bright and dark parts of a scene: deep blacks and bright highlights both remain visible, which is especially useful in backlit situations, interiors or landscapes during golden hour. The camera also delivers accurate colour reproduction in low light.

Never miss the moment again

Sony has taken autofocus to the next level. The AI-driven Real-time Recognition AF automatically recognises and tracks people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles. With 759 phase-detection AF points across the full sensor, your subject stays sharp in frame, even when it moves quickly or unpredictably. Eye detection works for both people and animals, in both photo and video.

There have also been major improvements in shooting speed. You can shoot at up to 30fps without blackout in the viewfinder, so your view always remains smooth and uninterrupted. The Pre-Capture function saves images before you fully press the shutter button, which is especially useful for wildlife, sports or other unpredictable situations where you might otherwise react just too late. The 5-axis in-body image stabilisation with 7 stops of compensation also helps you capture sharp images handheld.

Professional video in a compact hybrid body

Video performance has also been further refined. You can record in 4K 60fps across the full width of the full-frame sensor, or choose 4K 120fps in Super 35 for slow motion. The 10-bit 4:2:2 colour depth gives you more flexibility in post-production, with rich colours and strong contrast. With S-Cinetone and LUT preview, you can already set your colour style in-camera for a distinctive, cinematic look. Internal RAW recording and a clean HDMI Type A output also make the A7 V suitable for serious video productions.

The microphone and headphone connection, 3.5 mm, makes it easy to connect external audio equipment. With the dual card slot, CFexpress Type A and SD, UHS-II, V90, you can decide for yourself whether to use the slots for overflow, an instant backup or RAW and JPEG on separate cards.

A body built for intensive use

The refined grip of the A7 V feels comfortable in the hand, even during long shoots. The magnesium body is dust and splash resistant, so you can keep shooting with confidence in changing weather conditions. The 3.2-inch 4-axis vari-angle touchscreen moves in every direction, which is useful for video, shooting from unusual angles or vlog content. The electronic viewfinder with 100% field of view and 0.78x magnification gives you a clear view of your composition in all lighting conditions. Efficient heat dissipation and longer battery life help you keep working for longer without interruption.

Always connected

Via WiFi, Bluetooth and USB-C, USB 3.2, you can share images quickly. With the Creators' App, you can control the camera remotely and make wireless backups of your files. Charging and power delivery also run via USB-C, so one cable handles multiple tasks.
