With the Prime-XS series, the glass is chemically toughened for extra strength, extra clear for more light transmission and has an extra strong ring so the filter lasts longer.

Hoya 55mm UV Prime-XS

By using a UV filter, haze is reduced, blue and violet are corrected in colour photos, and black-and-white photos become sharper. The multi-coating also reduces annoying reflections. A UV filter is recommended to protect multi-coated lenses against damage and to reduce UV light. Multi-coated UV filters are designed for outdoor photography, portrait, and "snapshot" photography. The UV filter has a filter factor of zero and has no effect on exposure.

The Hoya UV Prime-XS is Hoya's line of filters offering some of the best quality available. In the Prime-XS series, the glass is chemically hardened for extra durability, extra clear for greater light transmission, and features an extra strong ring so the filter lasts longer.
