Resolution

The redesigned 45-megapixel Back Illuminated stacked CMOS sensor produces razor-sharp, bright images. Thanks to the DIGIC X processor and the added DIGIC Accelerator processor, you can count on fast, reliable data processing. Through in-camera upscaling, your content benefits from higher resolution without any compromise on speed or ISO sensitivity. Images become sharper and noise is reduced, directly in the camera.

Exceptional autofocus

Thanks to the exceptional autofocus capabilities, you'll never lose your subject from the frame again. With action priority mode, you focus on what matters, even during moments of fast action. During sports, the camera focuses in time based on what is about to happen, even when, for example, the ball momentarily goes out of sight. With the registered people function, the camera's focus gives priority to pre-set individuals — ideal for weddings and sports. You can also take advantage of the improved Eye Control AF, which focuses on the subject you are looking at. This method of focusing is faster than manual focusing and is also suitable for glasses wearers. 8.5 stops of stabilisation keeps both photos and video steady.

Speed

The camera not only features fast autofocus, but also fast shooting speeds. You can shoot continuously at 30fps. It is also possible to adjust the frames per second when 30 frames is too many. With pre-continuous shooting, you always capture the perfect shot. 15 frames are captured while the shutter button is half-pressed, so you also have the images taken before you actually pressed the shutter.

The rolling shutter has been reduced to such an extent that it is almost on a par with a mechanical shutter. Fast-moving subjects are no longer distorted and are rendered accurately and in detail.

Hybrid

The EOS R5 II is a true hybrid camera, with which you can also shoot video at the highest quality. Film in 8K RAW resolution at 60fps for super-smooth, detailed footage. Canon Log 2 and HLG provide an extra-wide dynamic range and exposure range for extensive editing options in post-production. Thanks to 4-channel 24-bit audio recording, sound is crystal clear too.

With the dual shooting function, you capture video footage and photos simultaneously, without interruption. While recording a video, you can easily capture JPEG images of your subject. Burst shooting during video recording is also possible.

The unique VR playback function makes it possible to preview a kind of VR view directly on the camera. With one eye, you can see how the footage would look through a VR headset — ideal for creators working with virtual reality.

Design

The camera features a robust magnesium body that is dust- and splash-resistant. The blackout-free viewfinder means you no longer have to deal with a frozen viewfinder image. Continuous tracking of fast-moving subjects makes it easy to maintain focus. Three new, separately available grips extend battery life and add an internet connection or ventilation.
