The Zoom H2essential handy recorder is the only Handy Recorder with three internal microphones. With the ability to select different microphone patterns, it offers creators more options than ever before. With two cardioid microphones on the front and back, and a bidirectional microphone facing from left to right, the H2essential lets you choose the perfect recording pattern for every recording.

Set your recording pattern to 90° or 120° stereo, or choose mono for hyperdirectional recording, reducing background noise. Then choose to record from the front, back or select both sides for surround sound recording.

90° stereo / rear microphone

Record in 90° stereo with the rear microphones to capture a ??natural stereo image.

120° stereo / front and rear

The stereo 120° microphones at the front and rear let you capture a wide, immersive sound field of the entire ensemble.

Mono / Front & Rear Mics

Mono recording reduces ambient noise for better isolation. Front and rear mics allow you to record two separate tracks.

90° or Mono / Rear Mics

Use the H2essential as a mono or stereo USB microphone for streaming and video calls.

90° Stereo / Front + External Microphone

Record audio for sound design with the front stereo microphone to capture focused, detailed sounds. Add an external shotgun microphone to add directional recording with less background noise.

When you connect the H2essential to a PC, Mac, iOS or Android device via the USB-C port, you can use it as a USB microphone and record to the SD card at the same time.
