The Westcott FJ400-SE Studio Strobe 400Ws is the only mains-powered flash from Westcott in their popular FJ series. The FJ400-SE offers a range of FJ400 features for photographers who need greater simplicity. This manual flash is part of the wireless FJ ecosystem, which translates to a built-in 2.4 GHz receiver and is synonymous with ease of use thanks to compatibility with the separately available FJ triggers or flashes from the brand. Output is adjustable with a precise 6-stop power range of 12.5 to 400 W (1/32 power to full power) in increments of 0.1 and 1.0 stop. The fast recycle time of 0.5 to 1.0 seconds is complemented by flash durations of just 1/200 second, making the FJ400-SE the ideal flash for portraits, products, and other reliable studio work. This version comes with a 4.5-metre AC EU power cable.
The FJ400-SE is lightweight at 1.8 kg and is a straightforward, compact flash solution for photographers familiar with the FJ system, as well as for those who have never used Westcott flashes before. This mains-only flash delivers accurate colours with a consistent colour temperature of 5500K and a 15W daylight LED modelling light, while retaining the build quality of the original FJ400. You can use the FJ400-SE virtually anywhere mains power is available via 220–240 VAC using the region-specific EU power cable. Reliable studio results with less complexity.
Its 400 W output and compact form factor open up studio possibilities for optimal flash exposure in a wide range of situations. The fast recycle time is suited to rapid shooting, along with adjustable recycle modes for consistent performance during longer sessions. The FJ400-SE enables a fast recycle time of 0.5 to 1.0 seconds or a stable recycle time of 0.5 to 3.0 seconds. Another highlight of the FJ400-SE is a precise 6 f-stop output range of 12.5 to 400 W (1/32 of full power) in increments of 0.1 and 1.0 for fine-tuning. Short flash durations ensure even exposure. The flash duration t0.1 is 1/200–1/300 sec. and the effective flash duration t0.5 is 1/200–1/1200 sec. Also worth noting is the manual mode with front- and rear-curtain sync for creative timing effects.
