An extender is a compact and lightweight solution for getting closer to your subject. With the Sony E-Mount 1.4x teleconverter, you can shoot with the Sony FE 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS as if it were a lens with a range of 98-280mm, for example. The maximum aperture is reduced by approximately one f-stop. This means that a lens with a maximum aperture of F/2.8 will have a maximum aperture of F/4.0 when used with the teleconverter.
