The Canon TS-E 17mm f/4.0L is an ultra-wide-angle tilt-shift lens that offers a wide angle of view for both APS-C sensors and full-frame sensors. Thanks to Canon's unique rotation system, the tilt and shift directions can be rotated independently of one another. This allows perspective and depth of field to be controlled separately, giving the lens greater flexibility. The combination of a diagonal angle of view of 104°, a tilt angle of ±6.5°, a shift of ±12 mm, and a rotation angle of ±90° for both the tilt and shift mechanisms makes the TS-E 17mm f/4L one of the most flexible lenses available. The tilt and shift mechanisms can also be locked to prevent unwanted movement.

An extremely precise, large-diameter aspherical glass-moulded lens element ensures outstanding resolution and minimal distortion. Chromatic aberration (a common issue when using wide-angle lenses) is counteracted by 4 UD elements. These characteristics make the lens particularly well suited to architectural photography. Canon's L-series lenses are built to withstand the most demanding conditions. The lens is moisture- and dust-resistant and comes supplied with a lens cap and shoulder bag.
