Canon EOS R8 Body only
PLEASE NOTE: this is an OUTLET item.
The Canon EOS R8 is an exceptionally lightweight full-frame mirrorless camera featuring technology from the Canon EOS R3 and Canon EOS R6 Mark II, including Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, 4K video at 60fps, 40fps burst shooting, and 24.2 Megapixel resolution.
Photography
The Canon EOS R8 is ideally suited for photography thanks to its 24.2 Megapixel full-frame sensor. The camera features a faster sensor readout, which means you'll experience less rolling shutter as a photographer. If you want to capture fast-paced action, the 30fps RAW burst mode of the EOS R8 has you covered. It also includes a pre-roll setting that records half a second (15 frames) before you press the shutter — so you'll never miss a spontaneous moment again. These images are captured in both JPEG and RAW.
In addition to RAW burst mode, the R8 offers more great photography features, including focus bracketing and multiple exposure. The camera also offers a variety of shooting modes for close-ups, HDR images, and panoramas — perfect if you love capturing landscapes, cityscapes, or the fine details of the macro world.
Video
Alongside its photography capabilities, the R8 also boasts impressive video specifications. You can shoot in 4K resolution at up to 60fps, oversampled from 6K — meaning the sensor captures even more information, resulting in sharper footage with greater detail. In addition to 4K, you can also record Full HD at 180 frames per second for beautiful slow-motion footage. Vertical video recording is also supported, so you can share content directly to your favourite social media platforms.
There are also a few features that truly set this camera apart, such as 3 or 5-second pre-recording, where the camera starts recording 3 or 5 seconds before you press the button — just like the photo pre-roll, ensuring you never miss a moment. A feature borrowed from cinema cameras is the False Color function, which helps you determine the correct Exposure by translating brightness levels into colours — ideal for lighting a green screen. And when recording with the R8, you won't need to keep an eye on the clock, as this camera has no recording time limit.
Image stabilisation & Autofocus
The Canon EOS R8 features Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, so you no longer need to worry about whether your subject is in focus — leaving you free to concentrate on other important aspects of your shoot. You can use tracking across the various Autofocus modes, which have been expanded with a wide range of options. In addition to eye, face, head, and body detection, you can now also track animals and vehicles. Tracking also includes a handy custom preset feature, allowing you to create and save your own focus area so you can always choose your own focus points.
This camera uses electronic stabilisation, which works in conjunction with the optical image stabilisation of compatible lenses to deliver sharp results.
Body features
The camera is equipped with the familiar flip touchscreen, giving you a clear view of what you're shooting. You can also track your subject through the Viewfinder, which displays 120 frames per second and features OVF Assist (Optical Viewfinder Assist) — a function designed to help DSLR camera users transition comfortably to this Viewfinder.
The camera features Canon's familiar button layout, with icons that make it easy to see at a glance what each button does. A particularly handy feature is the photo/video mode switch, which lets you easily distinguish and toggle between photo and video settings. The camera's connectivity options are equally versatile, including a microphone input, headphone output, USB-C port, and a micro HDMI port.
Sharing, storage & remote control
Once your shoot is done or you need more freedom, you can take advantage of the camera's built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. These features make it easy to connect remotely, review your files, or share them with clients or loved ones.
