Four-legged, tripod or monopod?
The most common and well-known design is the tripod. The standalone triangle shape ensures a stable image. The wind can blow from all directions and the tripod stays still.
The four-legged tripod quickly draws attention with its unusual shape. The fourth leg provides extra stability on extreme quicksand surfaces and is therefore suitable for all kinds of challenging surfaces.
When time is of the essence, monopods are the best choice. By simply adjusting the centre column, you save time. Monopods are particularly suitable for use when you need a tripod quickly, for example at sports events. With the right tripod foot from Photospecialist you give your tripods even more stability and safety.
What is a tripod foot for?
A tripod foot is the bottom part of a tripod, which is how it stands on the ground. This small part makes contact with the ground and can therefore also determine how steady your tripod stands and its balance.
There are many different tripod feet for a tripod — some can rotate and others are fixed. But some are made of harder material than another that may be made of rubber.
Are you planning to photograph indoors? Then a tripod foot is of extra importance. If you have one made of a softer material, you're much less likely to get scratches on the floor when you move the tripod. However, a softer material can also break more quickly than a hard material such as steel, so pay attention to this when bringing the tripod with these kinds of feet back inside from outside.
Spike or rubber feet for your camera tripod?
Once you've chosen the right tripod, the question arises which floor the tripod is going to stand on. In the woods, on the grass or even on concrete? Parquet or tiles? Another important detail: the weather. Whether it's raining or the sun is shining? These are important factors to take into account when choosing a tripod foot.
Setting up a tripod in deep, wet marshland is a challenge in itself. You can opt for a tripod foot that consists of spikes with extreme corrosion resistance to guarantee extra stability.
The rubber feet almost always work on firm and flat surfaces. Thanks to the mouldability and the large surface of rubber, the tripod feet remain as if glued to the ground.
Advantages of the rubber tripod foot
The feet are made of hard stainless steel and classic rubber. The rubber absorbs unwanted vibrations and at the same time guarantees a safe stance with high resilience. So you can capture all events, parties and functions without any problems.
