In February, Nikon announced enhanced video capabilities for professional videography with the latest firmware updates Z8 V2.10 and Z6III V1.10. Following the success of firmware update V5.10 for the Z9, we are now bringing even more advanced video options to the Z8 and Z6III. One of the most notable improvements is the addition of the shutter angle option, giving you even greater control over motion blur.
In addition, both cameras are now fully compatible with the new NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ video lens, specifically designed to provide videographers with ultimate flexibility and top-tier performance.

- New shutter mode settings for video You now have access to the shutter angle setting during video recording in manual mode. This allows you to apply the desired motion blur without having to change shutter speeds every time you adjust the frame rate. The shutter angle can be set in 15 steps from 5.6° to 360°, including the commonly used 180°. You can make subtle adjustments between shots smoothly and flexibly.
- Change zebra pattern colors You can now choose the color of the zebra pattern to make setting exposure easier. You can select from 5 colors, depending on the background of your shot. The zebra pattern is transparent, allowing users to see what they are photographing in the bright areas of the image.
- Customizable histogram and waveform monitor The position, transparency, and size of the histogram and waveform monitor can now be adjusted as desired.

How do I install a firmware update?
Updating firmware is very easy. All you need is your computer, an SD card, and of course your camera.
Step 1: Download the latest firmware updates for your camera. Make sure to choose the version that is suitable for your computer. The updates are available for both Windows and Mac.
Step 2: Place the firmware on a formatted and empty SD card. Be sure to first remove any important photos, videos, or other files from the card. Place the downloaded firmware directly onto the card and not in a folder.
Step 3: Insert the SD card into your camera. To successfully complete the update, it is advisable to work with a fully charged battery. Go to your camera's menu and select Firmware. Here you will see which firmware your camera is currently running on, and you will be given the option to update to the latest firmware located on the SD card. Do not turn off the camera during the process. Once the update is complete, you can get back to shooting.
